Can you Boil Water in a Paper Cup?
Introduction by Jiuan Reese
Hypothesis: I hypothesize that through this experiment, the cup will burn and the water will fall out. I believe this because, paper is not a heat repellent.
Materials: 2 paper cups (wax or pure paper cups) Water, flame- a match or a busenburner, thermometer or digital tempature sensor, 1 styrofoam cup, Sand (enough to partially fill a paper cup) 1 water balloon, 1 paper bag
Procedures: fill the cup close to the top with water, hold the cup over the flame, continue this until either the cup burns or the water boils then measure the tempature as its heating, fill the 2nd cup with sand, hold the cup over the flame and obse
Observations: During the burning of the cup, the plastic cup was very durabale and it lasted for about 1 minute with the water inside. The paper cup was not so good. It did not withstand the flame. The plastic cup with the sand inside was also very du
